Westfield Art Association

 We are a 90 year old organization that is still going strong and looking forward to an exciting year.

Our goal is to provide an opportunity to the public and artists to increase their knowledge and appreciation of the arts.  We are continuing our Art Education program from 2011 aiming to expose our membership to other art mediums and techniques.   

Please join us at our fifth meeting / demonstration this year on Sunday May 20th.  The artist Cynthia Weiss will be demonstrating her book artistry for us.  The meeting will be held from 2 to 4 pm in the Community Room at 425 East Broad Street in Westfield, NJ.  The meeting is open to the public and is accessible by ramp for the disabled.

Artists:  Our member show will be held indoors in the Community Room in Westfield.  We have reserved the weekends of June 2-3 and June 9-10 for the show.  We hope you will enter this show.  You should have received your prospectus already.  In case you haven't, here it is:  WAA Member Show.  If you have any questions, please contact Brooke.  We also plan on providing space for a few students from Westfield.

In order to enter the member show you have to have paid your dues.

Annual Meeting

We are required to have an annual meeting, election of officers and treasurer's report, etc. by our by-laws and the State of NJ. Our June 24th meeting will serve as our annual meeting. Please send Brooke your selections for the following officers:

President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Officers are elected for two years.  In addition we have about eight board members. If you have suggestions for these positions we want to hear them as well.

We will appoint a nominating committee which will be given your selections.

There is a Secretary position open since Toby Meyers died and we could use a manager of events/meetings/demos.

Life Drawing:  Clothed Life Drawing sessions will begin at 10 am on Thursdays in the Community Room of the Westfield Municipal Building.  The cost is $10 paid at the session.

What We Do

We hold member meetings where there is a demonstration by an established artist.  These meetings are very popular.  So please join us and enjoy the demo on these scheduled dates:

• Sunday January 29th - Francesca Azzara gave an encaustic demonstration
• Sunday February 26th - Raul Villarreal gave an oil painting demonstration
• Sunday March 25th - Paul Frederico gave a demonstration on water soluable oils.
• Sunday April 22nd -  Fran Franklin was unable to attend.  Mark de Mos kindly filled in for her. 
• Sunday May 20th - Cynthia Weiss will be demonstarting her bookmaking artistry for us
• Sunday June 24th
